今回は、アメリカ・テネシー州メンフィスに拠点を置く Farther Bag Co.（ファーザー・バッグ） のご紹介です。 このブランドの日本での紹介・販売は、ブリトーハウスが初となります。
最初にFartherのバッグを見たとき、「ただのバイクバッグじゃない」と思いました。 よくある形なのに、どこかに遊び心がある。クセがある。でも気取っていない。
実際のメンフィスは湿度のある土地だけれど、Fartherのバッグには、どこか西部の砂漠のような乾いた空気感が漂っている。 そんな不思議な引力に惹かれて、じわじわと気になり始めました。
同じ頃にSend It Safelyとの取引が始まり、TRAIL PURSEを作っているのがFartherだと知ったことで、間接的に彼の「ものづくりの姿勢」に触れることになりました。
ブリトーハウスから初めてコンタクトを取ったのは2023年9月。 でもお互いのタイミングが合わず、約2年越しでようやく最初の取引が実現しました。
Farther Bag Co.は、ウィル（Will Moss）というひとりのギア好き・DIY好きの青年が、いとこから「バイクツーリングっていう面白い世界があるよ」と教えてもらったことから始まりました。 最初は「自分でも作れそう」と思って手を動かしはじめ、気づけば友人へ、さらにその友人の友人へと広がり、やがて「気づいたらビジネスになってた（笑）」という流れ。
「Farther」というブランド名には、「より遠くへ」という意味があります。 でもウィルにとっての「遠く」とは、どこか未知の土地を目指す旅というよりも、バッグを自転車にくくりつけて、少しだけ日常から離れてみる——そんな“軽やかな逃避”のことかもしれません。
すべてのFartherのバッグはアメリカで手作業により製作されており、持続可能な素材を使用し、小ロットで生産されています。 「一生使えるようなものを」という想いを込めて。
現在ウィルは地元のクリエイティブ・エージェンシーで働きながら、Fartherをもう一つの「顔」として続けています。 でもだからこそ、「焦らず、自分のペースで、好きなものを作る」という姿勢が崩れないのかもしれません。
この活動がどんな形になっていくにせよ、ウィルはただバッグを作り続けるつもりです。 小ロットで、持続可能な素材を使い、長く使えて、一生愛せるものを。

Let me introduce Farther Bag Co., based in Memphis, Tennessee.
Burrito House is proud to be the first to introduce and carry this brand in Japan.
The first time I saw a Farther bag, I could tell—it wasn’t just another bike bag.
The shape might have been familiar, but there was a subtle sense of playfulness to it. A bit of character. And yet, nothing felt pretentious.
Memphis is known for its humid southern air, but Farther’s bags somehow carry the vibe of the American West—dry, wide open, almost desert-like. That contrast stuck with me. I couldn’t stop thinking about it.
Around the same time, I started working with Send It Safely, and learned that the now-popular TRAIL PURSE was actually made by Farther. Through that connection, I got a glimpse of Will’s approach to making things—indirectly at first.
I first reached out to Farther in September 2023.
But our timing didn’t quite line up, and it wasn’t until nearly two years later that we finally started working together.
Farther Bag Co. was founded by Will Moss, a gear nerd and DIY enthusiast who discovered the world of bike touring through his cousin.
At first, he thought, “I could probably make that,” and began sewing his own bags. Soon, friends wanted some too. Then friends of friends. Before long, it had snowballed into something bigger.
In his words: “Oops—I made a business.”
The name “Farther” means to go beyond, to travel further.
But for Will, it’s not always about heading to some far-off destination. Sometimes it just means strapping a bag to your bike and slipping out of the everyday for a while—a small escape with just what you need.
Every farther bag is handmade in the USA, using sustainable materials and produced in small batches.
His philosophy? Make something that lasts a lifetime.
By day, Will works at a local creative agency. Farther is his other half.
And maybe that’s why the pace stays honest. No pressure to scale up. No rush. Just making the things he loves, the way he wants to.
Whatever shape this project takes in the future, Will’s plan is simple:
Keep making bags. Small batch. Sustainably made. Built to last. And made to love for a lifetime.
