2025年10月25日。ニューメキシコ14日目。
昨日はEmmaとTattooのお話。早いものでアメリカに来てからもう25日目。残りはあと6日です。
ここからは特に予定を入れていないので、その時の気分で動いていこうと思っています。とはいえ今回の滞在も、けっこう余白を残しながらその日の気分で動いてきました。それこそ泊まるモーテルを当日に決めるぐらい自由な旅。
サンタフェ発祥の没入型アート施設
今日はサンタフェ発祥の没入型アート施設「Meow Wolf」へ。
特にアミューズメント施設に興味があるわけではないのですが、サンタフェの友人からかなり強く勧められていたので行ってみることに。
Meow Wolfはアメリカ発の体験型アート施設で、普通の美術館とはかなり違います。作品を「見る」というより、自分で空間の中を歩き回りながら探検するような場所です。
House of Eternal Return
サンタフェにある最初の施設「House of Eternal Return」は、一見すると普通の家。でも冷蔵庫の奥や壁の中、洗濯機の先など、あちこちに秘密の入口があり、その先に別世界が広がっています。
部屋ごとにテーマや雰囲気がまったく違い、光、音、色、立体物が全部混ざり合っていて、巨大な物語の中に入り込んだような感覚に。
子どもは純粋に遊べるし、大人はアートとして楽しめる。遊園地と美術館と脱出ゲームを混ぜたような、不思議な場所でした。
予定外の面白さ
正直、文章で説明するのは難しいのですが、今まで体験したことのない独特な空間と雰囲気。
カメラは持ち込み禁止で、スマホでの撮影も個人利用のみOKとのこと。なのでトイレへ向かう廊下の写真だけ撮りました。
こういう予定外のエンターテイメントに出会えるのも、旅の楽しみのひとつだと思います。

October 25, 2025. Day 14 in New Mexico.
Yesterday was all about Emma and tattoos. Hard to believe it’s already day 25 since I arrived in the U.S., with only six days left.
From here on, I don’t really have any fixed plans. I’ll just move depending on how I feel that day. But honestly, this whole trip has been like that—leaving plenty of room to go with the flow. Sometimes I don’t even decide on a motel until the same day.
A Santa Fe-born immersive art experience
Today I visited Meow Wolf, the immersive art space that started here in Santa Fe.
I’m not usually that interested in amusement-type attractions, but a friend in Santa Fe strongly recommended it, so I decided to check it out.
Meow Wolf is an American immersive art experience, and it’s very different from a regular museum. Instead of simply looking at art, you explore the space yourself and discover things as you go.
House of Eternal Return
The original Santa Fe location, House of Eternal Return, looks like an ordinary house at first. But hidden behind refrigerators, inside walls, and through washing machines are secret passages leading into entirely different worlds.
Each room has its own completely different theme and atmosphere. Light, sound, color, and objects all blend together, making it feel like stepping inside a giant story.
Kids can enjoy it as pure fun, while adults can appreciate it as art. It felt like a mix of an amusement park, an art museum, and an escape room—strange in the best way.
The fun of unexpected experiences
To be honest, it’s hard to explain in words. It was unlike anything I’d experienced before—such a unique space and atmosphere.
Cameras weren’t allowed, and phone photos were only permitted for personal use, so I only took one photo in the hallway leading to the restroom.
Finding unexpected entertainment like this is one of the best parts of traveling.
