とうとうアメリカ最終日。
LAで2泊して、3日目の今日は12時の飛行機です。空港から近いホテルに泊まりましたが、慣れている土地ではないので少し早めに出ます。
アメリカ最後の朝ごはん
手堅くマックで朝ごはんを食べようかと寄ってみたら、とんでもなく混んでいる。
ちなみにアメリカのマクドナルドは、州によってはもちろん、同じ州の中でも価格が違うことがあります。たぶんLA空港の周辺は高いエリア。たしか朝マックのセットで1,500円くらいでした。それでもこの辺りでは比較的安い朝ごはんなんだと思うと、今回の旅ではずいぶんお金を使ったなと改めて思います。
混んでいる中、なんとか朝ごはんを食べて空港へ向かいます。
6100kmを走ったレンタカーを返す
まずはレンタカーの返却。
今回は31日間借りて、約6,100kmを共にした車です。
アメリカの大きな空港でのレンタカー返却は、本当にあっけない。案内に従って空港内の巨大なパーキングへ入り、指定された場所に車を停めます。
車の中にキーを置いて終わり。ここまで誰にも会いません。
こんなところでも、アメリカがいかに車社会なのかを感じます。
そのままバスで搭乗するターミナルへ移動。無事にチェックインしたあとは、アメリカ最後のビールで締めます。
これで31日間の滞在が終わりました。
Cars of America
私もけっこう車が好きなので、モールなどに行ったとき、たまに駐車場を散歩しながら気になった車の写真を撮っていました。今日はそんな写真を載せていきます。並べてみると、結構偏っているかも。

Day 31 in America: Cars of America
It’s finally my last day in America. After two nights in LA, I have a noon flight today. I stayed at a hotel close to the airport, but since I don’t know the area very well, I’m heading out a little early.
One Last American Breakfast
I figured McDonald’s would be the safe choice for breakfast, but it was insanely crowded. One thing about McDonald’s in the US: prices can vary not only from state to state, but even within the same state. The area around LAX is probably on the expensive side. If I remember correctly, a breakfast combo was around 1,500 yen. And when you realize that’s still a relatively cheap breakfast around here, it really hits me how much money I’ve spent on this trip. After finally getting some breakfast in the middle of the crowd, I head to the airport.
Saying Goodbye to My Rental Car After 6,100 km
First up, returning the rental car. I’ve had this car for all 31 days and driven about 6,100 km with it.
Returning a rental car at a major US airport is surprisingly uneventful. I just follow the signs into a massive parking structure at the airport and leave the car in the designated area. Leave the key inside, and that’s it. I haven’t even spoken to anyone.
Even something as simple as returning a rental car reminds me just how much America is built around cars.
From there, I take a shuttle bus to my terminal. After checking in without any problems, I finish the trip with one last beer in America. And just like that, my 31 days in the US are over.

I’m pretty into cars too, so whenever I stopped at malls and other places, I’d sometimes wander around the parking lot and take photos of whatever caught my eye. So today, I’m sharing some of those photos. Looking at them all together, I might have a pretty obvious type.
